Stacey's Stove ~ Sausage & Peppers

Sausage & Peppers
Sausage and peppers remind me of baseball. You cannot go to a Red Sox game without having a sausage and pepper sandwich. And you cannot have a sausage and pepper sandwich at a ball game without having a beer in the other hand.
Well since I was making these on a cold, snowy, Sunday afternoon, I decided to add the beer to the sausage and peppers recipe.
Here's what you'll need...
Olive Oil, Sausage, Peppers, Onions, Pasta Sauce, Beer, Crushed Garlic,
Red Pepper Flakes, Oregano, and Basil
Preheat oil over medium heat...
Add sausage links and cook until browned, turning often...
Meanwhile, slice peppers and onions....
Once sausage is browned, remove sausage from pan and set aside...
Add peppers, onions, and garlic to pan...
Cook until peppers and onion are tender...
Once sausage has rested (10 mins), slice into pieces.
(that's my tomato slicer thingy...I've never used it to slice tomatoes, but it's great for everything else!)
Add the sauce, beer, sausage, oregano, basil, red pepper and simmer, covered, for 20 - 30 minutes...
Serve on bulky rolls...Sprinkle with parmesan cheese...Enjoy!!
Leftovers are also great served with pasta!!!
1 lb sausage (sweet or hot)
1 large onion, sliced
2-3 peppers (green, red, or both), sliced
1 Tbsp crushed garlic
1 jar pasta sauce
4 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 can of beer (can substitute with red wine or omit)
1 Tbsp Oregano
1 Tbsp Basil
dash of red pepper flake
Parmesan cheese (optional)
Salt & Pepper
Heat oil in dutch oven or skillet.
Brown sausage over medium heat.
Remove sausage and add peppers, onions, and garlic; cook until tender.
Slice sausage and return to pan.
Add sauce and beer, and seasonings and simmer, covered, for 20-30 minutes.
Serve on bulky rolls. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Enjoy!!

Stacey's Stove ~ Oreo Peanut Butter Brownies

Oreo Peanut Butter Brownies

I stumbled upon a variation of this recipe on Pinterest. I heart Pinterest!  If you haven't ventured into the Pinterest world, you must do so, like immediately! Pinterest will turn you into the best chef, baker, crafter, gardener, fashionista, I could go on and on.
Okay, back on track...Oreo cookies, peanut butter, and brownies...whoever the genius was behind this recipe was certainly dessert deprived...I mean, how else would you dream up such a sinful combination? 
Here's what you'll need...
Oreos, Brownie Mix, Vegetable Oil, Egg, and Peanut Butter (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Line a muffin pan with paper liners (notice the pretty liners!)... peanut butter or not to peanut butter?
I made half with peanut butter and half without.
Spread some peanut butter on Oreos... 
Place 2 Oreos in each liner...
Prepare brownie mix according to package...
Add Brownie mix to bowl and add oil, water, and egg. Mix well...
Using a spoon, top the Oreos with the brownie mix... 
Ah-mazingly, you will have just enough to generously cover the Oreos!
(Okay, I lied...there may be a little left over. Okay, listen carefully...don't worry, it won't go to waste. I have plans for that leftover batter...big plans.
Wait, before you read on, look around, make sure no one's the coast clear? Okay, on...
Disclaimer...Raw Eggs Should Not Be Consumed...
Once you have filled the muffin cups (and if you're like me, you ignored the above disclaimer), make sure the room is clear...and using your spatula, lick that bowl clean! If you close your eyes while doing this, you may be transported back to your childhood, sitting on the counter, metal bowl and spatula in hand! Ahh, the memories.
Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Allow to cool for 10-15 minutes.

Stacey's Stove ~ Yummy Chicken Quesadillas

I just loathe Mondays (yes, I know, they come 52 times per year. You would think one would get use to this day...but no, not me!) The Superbowl had me up way beyond my bedtime, so I was - as my Mother would say T-I-R-E-D (Did your Mother do that too? "Someone's T-I-R-E-D!!" I honestly think that was the 1st word I learned how to spell?)
Knowing that I didn't want to spend the entire evening in the kitchen, this was a quick dinner choice, one that had me out of the kitchen by 6:00 PM (Yay, go me!!!)
An easy weeknight meal that's wholesome and delicious.This is a versatile dish. Add your favorite veggies, swap out chicken for steak, or leave out the meat to make it a veggie quesadilla.
Here's what you'll need...
Chicken, peppers, garlic, taco seasoning, sour cream, montery jack cheese,
EVOO, flour tortillas, and butter (not pictured)
Dice up chicken and coat with taco seasoning...
Heat up olive oil over medium heat...
Meanwhile, slice the peppers...
Add chicken to the skillet and allow to cook for 2-3 minutes...
Turn chicken, add a few pats of butter, and cook an
additional 5-7 minutes. Transfer chicken to a plate...
Add peppers to pan with 1 TBSP of minced garlic...
While the peppers are cooking, shred the cheese...
Once peppers are tender, remove from pan...
Using the same skillet, arrange the quesadillas...
Add a pat of butter to the pan, place a tortilla shell in the pan, top with cheese, chicken, peppers, and more chicken...
Transfer to a cutting board, slice, and enjoy!

FREE Valentine's Printables by Yaya Design

Valentine's Day.
Isn't that when we pull out all the crafting tricks?
{um, i don't unless the opportunity this one}

Just a little insight, I'm not much of a crafter.
I like crafting and I really like doing stuff for the kids.
BUT, I'm not a "serious" crafter.

That means, it has to be easy.
And ideas have to be floating out there for me to grab on to.
Or mix in to what I already have in mind.

When I saw this at Pick Your Plum, I knew this was the theme
for Valentine's this year AND I even bought more for other gifting purposes.
Cuz, truth be told, I am a chevron freak.
As much as I am a polka dot freak.

I knew this would be easy to make if I bought the "french fry" containers.
Felt, check.
Hot glue (a must in crafting), check.
Rick rack, check.
Baker's twine (that stuff that is red & white), check.
Goodies to fill, check.

Here are my goodies all laid out.

Now, I don't like to copy, per say.
I do venture off a bit.
For instance, I used pinking shears to cut out the hearts.
I like the detailing and it doesn't take any more effort than regular scissors.

I also have a thing for not using rick rack on chevrons.
So I opted to use it on the natural french fry container.

I also made the teachers/staff at the school some goodies.
If you like the covered button earrings, check out the tutorial to make yours HERE.
And I swear I had one for the covered button bookmarks but I'm at a loss.

I can't find it anywhere!
BUT, it is the same process as the earrings.
Use a bigger covered button, check out HERE for the size.

And you can always go to your local craft store like Hobby Lobby or Joann's.
They always have them & come in smaller quantities.
You should also be able to find those HERE or again, at your local craft store.

Putting it all together and seeing the end result is so cute!
I can't wait to pack up the containers with Valentine's goodies
and let the kids share them with their friends!

Valentine's Day Table Runner Sew-Along - Part 3

Are you ready to finish this table runner?
As anxious as me to put it on that table?

Let's get going!
First, we need to iron our seams of the panels we sewed together on Monday.
Make sure you do it for every seam!
I also like to spray the seams with Magic Sizing to help them lay flat.

Now, we need to cut the back panel piece.
Actually, we will be sewing together two pieces.
Fold your front piece in half.
Measure from the middle to the end.

Mine turned out to be 30".
We are going to add .5 to that to make it 30.5".
I am going to cut TWO pieces 30.5" by 12.5".

Iron those bad boys.
Place the right sides together (of the back panel pieces).
You are going to sew along the 12.5" width.
This will be your CENTER line in the back of the table runner.

Iron out that seam.
Again, I like to use Magic Sizing to make it lay nice and flat.

Now it is time to put the front and the back together.
Using that center seam on the back, line it up with the center of the front.
Do this with RIGHT SIDES facing one another.

Your edges should line up nicely.
On mine, you can see my back is longer than the front.
I am not going to worry about that right now.

If you like to pin, I would pin your two pieces together now.
After you are done pinning, go to your sewing machine.
We are going to sew the two pieces together BUT we need to leave
a 3" opening so we can turn this pretty table runner out!
{i like to star about 1.5" from the center seam}

When you get to your first corner, place your needle in down position.
Raise your foot (not your actual foot, the sewing foot), pivot the fabric,
place the foot back down, and continue sewing.
You will do this for all four corners.

Before you finish, make sure you leave a big enough space for your hand to reach in!
If you happen to have extra of the backing, go ahead and cut it now.
We are also going to cut our corners.

Let's turn this pretty table runner right side out!
Reach in to the opening with your hand and grab one end.
Pull it out.
Do it again for the other end.

Using something with a blunt tip, you are going to poke your corners out.

We are going to iron our table runner nice and flat.
This takes practice and you have to be careful going across the opening,
making the creases so that they match up when you top stitch.

Now, I didn't put this in the list of materials and I am sorry for that,
BUT if you happen to have some Stitch Witchery laying around,
cut a pieces the width of your opening, insert and iron closed.
{that is a little trade secret of mine and of course I forgot the photo}

We are nearing the end.
If you have chosen to add some trim, let's do that now.
I was going to use the red pleated ribbon but I'm switching
to the big, white rick rack instead.

Lay the rick rack across the bottom or where ever you would like to put it.
Cut the width of the table runner.
Using a lighter, make sure to seal the edges otherwise they will fray.
You could also use Fray Check but I find the lighter much cheaper & more efficient!

Sew that baby on there!
Look at where my needle placement is.
Right smack dab in the middle of the rick rack.

Don't go anywhere yet!
We have to finish this loveliness up.
Top stitch all the way around the edge at a 1/8" allowance. are DONE!

{since i couldn't get outside, i put it against a white wall in our house}

Or some other fancy stuff.
Add more embellishing.
Get it embroidered with initials, family name, or monogram.

The possibilities are ENDLESS!
