Tricia's Order

Pin It Thank you to Tricia for being my very first customer! She requested a 3-tier diaper cake to match the nursery of a friend & will also be set as the centerpiece on a table at the shower. The colors of the room are sage green & white w/ pink accenting it. I decided to do the cake in all 3 colors. I hope I did a good job!

This is a top view. There is a double bow in pink & sage green.

Here is the cake from the front. The bows are hand tied on the bottom & the top tiers. I also set the cake on a cake stand or plate & used the tool to decorate the bottom.

Here is the cake wrapped up, ready to go!

Sometimes simple is best!

I thought & thought & thought about what to put in the middle of that darn wreath & couldn't come up w/ anything. I did get some good suggestions but I couldn't invision them & when you can picture it in your head, it makes it harder. I finally decided that I would try to put ribbon across it that said "It's a boy!" & "It's a girl!" Remember that this wreath was for a friend of mine that just had triplets (2 girls, 1 boy). I think it turned out pretty well. I purposely put the ribbon slightly diagonal to give it a bit more depth. What do you think?

For the next wreath, I would like to sit a bear in the middle. I also think I will add more curling ribbon. I think it will make it look fuller & more colorful. I like to keep it simple. Sometimes there is just too much going on & it takes away from the whole thing. Simple = Elegant

Adding diaper wreaths to the selection!

Pin It Yesterday & today I have been working on 2 projects. The 1st one is a 1-tier diaper cake. No one ordered it so if you are in the market for a boys diaper cake, I have 1 available. The reason I made it is to show that a diaper cake doesn't have to be some super stacked, gawdy piece of work that you give to someone. It can be simple yet very tasteful & still catch everyone's eye. Now, if you aren't in to the blue ribbon around the cake, I also included a picture of what it looked like before I put it on so you can see how different it can look.

This is a diaper wreath I made for a friend of mine that just had triplets. Since she had 2 girls & 1 boy, I wanted to include both pink & blue but in a tasteful way. I'm not quite done w/ this. I think I am going to add some ribbon across the middle.

I hope you enjoy! Please feel free to comment on anything you see. Suggestions are always welcomed!

Thoughts about diaper cakes?

Pin It Have you ever seen a diaper cake that you thought was "cute" but wasn't right for you? I have...many times. What thoughts run through your head? I know I always think things like...

There is too much!
I don't like the ribbon.
The colors don't go well together.
Man, that is cheap stuff on there.
Is she really going to use all that?

I can think of another few but rather than bore you with that, I'd rather hear from you. What don't you like about diaper cakes? See, that is important to me. That is the reason I don't want to just make cakes & sell them. I want to be able to customize the cake to fit your vision. For example, 1 of the cakes below (pink/black/white) was made to match the nursery which was in the same color scheme. Now, I probably could have scoured the internet for hours trying to find someone that had 1 already made but why waste the time. That is what I want to deliver to you. You tell me the colors you would like to see & I'll do my best to match that vision.

Let me throw out some ideas for you. You are going to a shower & you know the mommy-to-be went to University of Texas & she is having a little boy. Why not have me make a cake in burnt orange/white w/ a mini football on top? Maybe your friend loves Godiva chocolates? Why not make a diaper cake using some Godiva chocolates? How about if your friend is having twins or triplets & they are not all girls or boys? Then you need a cake incorporating pink & blue in a tasteful way.

My point is that I feel that a diaper cake can be much more appreciated by personalizing it. Talk to me, we will brainstorm together & make a beautiful cake!

Starting My New Business

Pin It Well, this is going to be a first for me. I have always been told that I should start my own business b/c I am pretty creative & do quite a bit of crafts for friends. I decided that now is the time to try this business thing out.

Just a bit of information about me...I am a mommy to 3 beautiful children (triplets) & enjoy my new job of caring for them. Now that they are 7 1/2 months old, I actually have a bit of time that I can devote to other things. I am very excited to share what I have done & what I will be doing to all of you. Not only will this site be for diaper cakes but I also make many other things I will probably be sharing with you all. I hope to keep this updated weekly whether I have business or not.

I truly appreciate you all taking interest! Let me start out by sharing a couple of diaper cakes I have made.

This one was made for a friend who is having a little girl. I like the pink/black/white theme & also used this for another cake I made but the ribbons were different colors. Also, this bow does not have any ribbon hanging down.

This one was a requested cake. You can see that the bow is much larger on the top & has ribbons cascading down. Also, I added a special touch by finding horse shoe charms & putting rhinestones on them. The mommy-to-be is a cowgirl!
