Learning the ropes...

That's what I'm doing.
This is my 1st year delving in to children's clothing.
Not that I wasn't around last year cuz I was.

It's just this year, I have a much larger demand for products.
I NEVER in a million years would have thought that so many would want something from me.
And I am eternally grateful for the business.
But I have to learn how to manage time better!

Ok, part of that is the fact that I have 2.5 yr old triplets.
And the other part is that I haven't worked retail sales since high school.
(Yep, I worked at Gap Kids & Christmas is CRAZY.)

I've learned quite a bit.
Things I will implement in the coming year.
For now, I'm hanging by a thread.
Hehe...figuratively & literally.

Oh, did I mention the 3 craft fairs I'm doing? CRAZY!

Too much to blog about, not enough time!

Halloween has really done a number on me this year.
I didn't expect to be so busy.
Never in my wildest dreams.

So, when I had to shut down order taking,
little did I know that wouldn't stop the request.
And me being me, I accommodated them.

I'm learning but being a new business owner isn't always easy.
I hate to say no.
HATE.

Lessons are being learned.
Next year will be a little different but in a good way.
For now, I'll play catch up.

But before I can get too far ahead,
my beloved machine must go in for a badly needed tune up.
Poor baby girl is stressin' & the last thing I need is for her to break in the middle of a huge project.

The solution?
Serger & old Singer machines will do the job for now.
Luckily they have a rush process.
Of course, for a little extra.
But well worth getting it back in 3 days rather than 2 weeks.
Right?

Lemme show you something I've been stressin' about.
My kids picture outfits.
Managed to get them done.
Now I have 1 more set to go.

And if that wasn't enough,
I decided I needed to learn something new.
How to make fabric flower headbands.
And it took me a couple of hours to get it right.
BUT, I am happy w/ the results.

You'll see everything above for sale.
Or even a free tutorial, when I find more time.
So be looking to come back for more!

Toy Story Twirly Skirt

Becky has become a loyal customer.
I love her eccentric taste in fabrics.
It gives me something new & exciting to work with.

So, when it was time to make a b-day outfit for Abby,
she came to me.

Abby loves Toy Story.
So Toy Story she got!
She also loves polka dots.
And polka dots she will receive.

I personally think it gives the skirt a vintage 50's feel.
Don't you think?

I can do any fabric you pick out.
Anything under the sun.
And twirly skirts are a girl's best friend.
Next to diamonds, of course.

Halloween Bows

Here is this season's Halloween bows!
They are layered for more "oomph".
But I can always simplify them.
Super easy to do!

As a mommy that likes simple bows,
I can appreciate others that also like them.

But, despite my personal taste,
I LOVE making these fun, layered bows for the holidays!

These bows are available for immediate purchase for $6.50.

A week full of Lounge Sets!

First, Daddy was MIA for the week.
That made working at all, very difficult.
But I managed to get some stuff done.
Not as much as I had hoped.

But, so is life.

Yesterday I belted out 5 lounge sets.
Yes, FIVE.
Shirts & all.

My take on Harley Davidson.
Pretty cool, huh?

Thomas the Train

For all you cowboys out there,
these are the coolest!
And yes, a girl print is in the works!

Tuxedo Shirt

It's been in the works for a while.
I just didn't know where to start.
Call it a creative brain fart.
(yes, brain fart)

I needed something,
anything,
to go w/ my twirly skirts.
And, honestly...
the applique shirts weren't cutting it.

Not that they don't look good.
Cuz they do.

But I needed something w/ a little more OOMPH!
I've been looking at tux shirts.
Trying to figure out the design in my head.

All not too successfully.
Until I took a creative day last weekend.
To play w/ the idea.

It started out like this...

Too plain for my taste.
It still needed something extra.

Nickie suggested a ruffle around the "U".
It got added.

And, it was the perfect touch.

Pair it w/ the matching twirly skirt,
and this is one gorgeous little outfit!

Lorna, Nickie's daughter,
modeling the whole get up!

Her facial expression is priceless!

A twist on Baby Bop

Now, my kids like Barney.
But I'm not sure I would dress them up
like the actual characters for Halloween.

Weird.

When Kayla contacted me
about making Izzy something Baby Bop
for Halloween,
it was the perfect opportunity
to run w/ her vision!

We ended up with a green shirt (obviously),
a hot pink tutu, &
a matching bow.

To be added by Kayla,
a pair of green tights.

In my opinion,
the perfect alternative
to the costume.

And the best part?
Izzy can wear the shirt until she outgrows it!
And play with the tutu anytime she wants.

Money well spent!

Buzz Lightyear/Toy Story Lounge Set

A fellow triplet mommy asked a favor,
could I make a lounge set for her son
b/c he was going in to the hossy.

I couldn't resist.
Don't know that I ever would.
She gave me some ideas.

This is the result.
He loves Buzz.
And Buzz he's getting!

If this will make him happy,
it will make me happy.

Dora the Explorer Twirly Skirt & Top

This was a fun skirt to make.
It is for another special little girl
that will be heading to the hossy
to take care of some issues she is having.

It breaks my heart...
children in hospitals.

I only hope the special outfit
will make it all better.

And every little girl
should have a matching messy flower.
A little gift from me.

Barbie Twirly Skirt

This is going to a special little girl.
She is fighting cancer.
Has been for a while.

She is only 5.
It breaks my heart.
BUT the thought of her twirling around in this skirt.

It gives me chills.
I hope it makes her happy.

Big Poppy Twirly Skirts

I've been D to the Y to the ING
to work w/ this fabric.

Those poppies are the most beautiful ever!
It doesn't help that my mom's name is Poppy.

I lied.
It does.

But the mix of the orange-red
and the denim blue...

AAAAHHHHH.

I loved watching the fabric run through my machines.
It kept me happy.
Seriously.

I know, I'm weird.
You don't need to tell me.

But admit it.
It's beautiful.

Halloween Pillowcase Dress

I found this totally cute Halloween candy print.
I couldn't resist.
Put it w/ some polka dot fabric.
You've got a cute dress!

Live in colder weather?
That's not an issue.
Pillowcase dresses are forgiving.

Simply layer!
Long sleeve or turtleneck.
Jeans or leggings.

You choose!

Pink & Black Burp Cloths

These are so pretty.
I've been meaning to make a dress.
Instead I made burp cloths.

I can always make the dress later.

These can easily be customized
with an initial, monogram, & name.
$15 for the set!

Dia de los Muertos Burp Cloths

This came as a special request.
Dia de los Muertos burp cloths.

AKA (in English) ~ Day of the Dead

The Spanish celebrate Halloween a bit differently.
They celebrate among the dead.
And the artwork that has come from this celebration
is breath-takingly beautiful.

Needless to say,
when I saw not 1 but THREE fabrics
that embraced the Dia de los Muertos,
I snatched some up.

All I needed was someone to love it as much as I did.
And Brandi does.
These will be for her new baby.
Gender unknown.

I just love the colors!
So pretty & vibrant.

And if these don't suit your taste,
all is well.
I can use any other fabric under the sun.
Pictures to follow shortly.

I promise.

Rockin' Boy Lounge Sets

I'm going to get in trouble making these.
They turn out so cute!
Can't help but think of all the possibilities
that lay in each isle of Joann's or Hobby Lobby.

It makes my mouth water.

And that's never a good thing.

These lounge sets are
comfy enough for the laziest Saturday,
BUT...
stylish & trendy enough
to wear out on the town!

At $28-30 a set,
it is a great outfit for your boy!

Red Skull Lounge Set

Rock of Love Lounge Set

Flaming Star Lounge Set

I did something different to the applique stitching.
I went around w/ a zig zag,
and then a straight stitch.
Just for fun :)

Send me fabric & I'll create what ever!

I'm really a one-of-a-kind
type of gal.
It must be the ADD shining through.

What does this mean for you?
Send me your fabric.
What ever you like.

I'll create a dress.
Maybe a pair of shorts.
Ruffle pants.

What ever you can think of.
It will turn out cute
and you have the benefit
of calling it a special creation.

Oh, & the cost of my labor,
much cheaper!

Jennifer sent me this beautiful fabric.
And this is what she got sent back.

She paid me for the knot dress,
the tie shirt,
and a pair of white bloomers.

I had enough fabric left over
so I made her a pair of ruffle pants,
no charge.

I'm a sucker for cuteness.

Knot Dresses & Ruffle Pants

These 2 go together beautifully.
And then you can use the pants later,
with a solid color shirt.

Remember the knot dress grows
w/ your little girl.

It starts as a dress,
and ends up being a top!

Twinkie B-day Shirts

Have I mentioned that I'm a triplet mom?
Yes, THREE babies at one time.
It has been eventful.

No doubt.

So, when I get a request
from a Mom of Multiples,
I jump all over it!

Did I mention that MoMs get a 10%?
Yep, cuz buying for more than 1 makes it expensive.

And did I tell you if you are buying coordinating outfits
for siblings, that same 10% is extended?

Back to the point.
Michelle contacted me about making b-day shirts
for her daughters' 2nd birthday.

Hope & Abbey.

Primary colors w/ red being the focus.
And matching bows.

I can't wait to see them on the girls!
May you have a beautiful birthday!

Bubble Dresses

I got hooked up w/ a photographer in California.
She wanted some special dresses
for a special girls' photo shoot.

Who better for the job to construct the dresses?
Me, of course!

When I saw the pattern,
I thought this was going to be a doozy.
I was going to eat it on this one for sure.

I am happy to report that the pattern didn't beat me.
I beat the pattern!

The result?
These 2 gorgeous dresses for Becca Hamilton Photography.

I can't wait to see the pics!
