Workin' It!

I wouldn't normally show a picture like this.
But, I had to.
It shows me at my best.

Multi-tasking

That's the only way I get things done.
Don't even remember who snapped the pic.

On a separate note, I have just received my
Vikings fabric & LSU fabric.

Initials Anyone????

My first project.
Well, really my second project.
The first is for my Daddy but I don't want to put it up
so he doesn't see it early.

This is what my machine can do!
I can't wait to get more fonts for it.
6 is just not enough.

BUT, for a Texans scarf, what is better than a varsity font?
Wouldn't you agree?

A close up of the font.
Me likes!

The first thing I ever did, my Dad's initials.
Nope, it ain't part of the "thing" I made for him.

It's a nice, fancy font.

Anyway, that's it for now.
I hope you enjoy!

I have a new friend.

I'm so excited.
I can't stand it.
To the point where I haven't stopped sewing
for the past 2 days.

I have a new friend.
She's called a Brother Innovis 1200.
She can sew.

But even better...

She can EMBROIDER.

I got her for Christmas from my Daddy.
He is the most wonderful Daddy a girl could have.

So, in honor of him, he gets the first project.
A pretty scarf (manly, of course).
AND...his initials embroidered on there.

This is only the start.
I'm going to HAVE to get more font options.
Eventually.

For now, I am a happy & busy beaver!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

My new workspace!

I've been a busy bee.
Not only has business been good BUT,
I have a new workspace.

I have been envisioning this for a while.
It has finally come true.
I'm not completely done though.
I'm making a curtain for the bottom
part of the workstation so you can't see
the junk underneath.

After all, this IS in the dining room.

View of the top shelf where I can display cakes & bows.

My display area & mailing center.
Can I tell you how nice it is to hang my tutus
on something besides the archway?
And, to put all my orders on 1 shelf?

What a relief!

Now I am ready to create & fill orders.
So, go on! Buy something!

A Scarfing we will go!

Hi, ho the merry-o, a scarfing we will go!

Really, don't mind me.
It is the endless hours of watching the needle go up & down
that is making me a little crazy.
I promise!

I have to say that the scarves are booming.
I have them in all flavors.
Even in University of Texas
or Texas A&M (gasp) print.

How about the Texans?
Do you have another favorite team?
All I need is an order of 4 or more to get the fabric
to make your dream team scarf!

Team scarfs are a bit more than the others.
$17 for a skinny scarf (for all you ladies).
$22 for a flannel back scarf
(makes it reversible as well as a good scarf for the man in your life).

You know what to do if you are interested.
Just check out my Etsy store or email me at divinedcakes@hotmail.com.
I hope to hear from you!

Skinny Scarves!

The 1st 4 are done.
Finished.

WAAAAAHOOOOO!
I'm a happy girl.
Now, tomorrow is going to be a different story.
Back to Joann's I go for flannel fabric.

Just one problem.
It's Black Friday.
The flannel is on sale for $1.99 a yard.
How can I NOT go?

Here is the finished "skinny scarf".
I like it.
I like it a whole lot!

(Don't mind me. I have no other model.
This was after pigging out on Thanksgiving.)

IF you are interested in purchasing one, please email me or check out my Etsy store.

Gotta love fabric!

Hmmm, first I was a ribbon hoarder.
Now I think the obsession has spilled over.

FABRIC...need I say more?

I had way too much fun at the fabric store.
Addicted.
I admit it.

These are the fabrics I chose for the nap mat covers I'm working on.
One kid loves cars, the other loves trains.
Their favorite colors are blue & red.
I picked flannel b/c it is soft & cuddly.
Yes, I am a cuddler.

The next fabric selection request was pink & penguins.
HA! Penguins.
Um, this is what I came up with instead.

And then, for fun.
Not sure what I am going to do with them but I'll think of something.

Oh, & I can't forget the extra fabric I bought to make more scarves.
Pretty, wouldn't you agree?

No nap mat slots left!

Pin It Thank you for all the interest in the nap mats! I'm hoping to have this perfected so that I can sell them, at a lower cost than most found out there. If you have any suggestions how to make them better, I'm all ears! I will most definitely be putting velcro at the end of the ribbon based on suggestions from several preschool teachers. Thank you! I'll be posting pics of the fabrics for the nap mats I will be making.

Nap Mat Covers...2 slots left!

Pin It I just wanted to let everyone know that I have 2 slots left if there are any takers. Remembering that these are practice runs for me & no charge for my time, just the materials & shipping. Comes out to roughly $20-25 depending on materials you choose. Technically, it could even be cheaper! Email me at divinedcakes@hotmail.com

Nap Mat Cover ~ My newest sewing project!

Pin It My friend Cal asked if I made nap mat covers. She isn't the 1st friend to ask if I could make them but before, I didn't have time to bust out the sewing machine before but now I do so I decided to strike Cal a deal. I told her if she bought the materials, I would make the cover so long as I could keep the scrap material.

There were a couple of requirements...

1) It had to have dogs on it.
2) The material could not be dark blue, blue or brown (this was going to be the hard part b/c if you have ever been in a fabric store, you know that most dog print stuff if very masculine).
3) It had to have somewhere to put a pillow.

Hmmm. Where to start? I searched the internet & found a tutorial but I'm not a reader when it comes to instructions. I'm totally visual. I called my only friend that would have purchased a nap mat & asked if I could borrow hers. Thank God! Now, her nap mat cover is super cute but the sewing sucked so I knew I could do better & I think I did.

Don't get me wrong. I had to rip a few seams to get it just right & sure, the stitching isn't perfect but I think I did a fairly good job for being a 1st timer. Now, looking back at the borrowed cover, I understand why she took the "shortcuts" in sewing b/c the way I did it wasn't easy but man, it looks A LOT cleaner.

Here is the finished product! I folded the "blanket" in half (it is quite big, twice as big as the actual cover so it will be about 40" wide). The bottom is closed by velcro so the mat won't slip out.

This is the top half w/ the attached pillowcase. I also made the pillow inside the pillowcase.

A close up of the print I found. It is flannel so it will be snuggly.

This is how it will look rolled up. I also made a handle for easy carrying.

I'm not even sure what I will charge for one of these. I need more practice so if you need a nap mat & are willing to pay for material & shipping, I'll make one for you! No extra charge. I'll make 4 so if this is something you are looking at doing, please contact me asap @ divinedcakes@hotmail.com. Thanks!

Zebra Princess Diaper Cake

I made this diaper cake for display at the craft shows I will be doing BUT am totally willing to sell it if someone asks to buy it on the spot. I have been DYING to make a cake in these colors WITH the zebra stripe ribbon & pink daisies. This would be a perfect piece for on top of the dresser or for a shower done in the same theme. I wish I had a place to actually keep it, that's how much I love it!

Ingredients:
50 Pampers Swaddlers (size 2)
1 pair Trumpette Ballerina socks
1 4" boutique bow (bubble gum pink)
1 3" boutique bow (black)
Plenty of ribbon to be used for scrapbooking after cake is disassembled!

This cake is $60.

Diaper Wreaths

I've been feverishly working on bows, diaper wreaths & several other little things for my very first craft show tomorrow. I had to share the 4 wreaths I completed as I like them very much. I know I've said this before but I am not one to make cheesy wreaths or cakes. I like elegance & simplicity. I think this really shows that. Some like the wreaths & cakes loaded w/ goodies but I rather keep it purdy!

I do include a couple of goodies that happen to match the color scheme, especially on the big wreaths.

11 to 16 Pampers Swaddlers (sz 2) are used. The small wreath is about $17. The larger $25. Customized letters can be added for the baby's initials.

Texas A&M Diaper Cake

Yep, another one. I guess those UT fans aren't quite the fanatics the Aggies are. I had fun making this one. It is different than the last & I have to say that I like the onesie, bib, & booties much better than the last set. They are Adidas. Super cute!

Here is a close up of the top.

And the bottom.

All wrapped up, ready to ship out!

"Bow-quets"

Pin It My newest creation! I don't really know what spawned this idea. I've never seen it before anywhere else. I call them "bow-quets" of bows. They are super cute & practical! I think I'm going to sell them. Wouldn't it be cute to deliver this to a new mom in the hospital?

The going rate will be $35 for a bow-quet of 6 3" bows & $40 for a bowquet of 3 3" bows & 4" bows, colors to be chosen by the customer!

I would love any feedback!

Pea in a Pod ~ Perfect for Moms of Multiples!

Pin It I had a dear friend ask Sheila & I to come up w/ a pea in a pod design for her triplets. She sent us some ideas that she liked & we ran w/ it. Sheila & I collaborated on the shirt, after several changes, & came up w/ what I think is an absolutely adorable design! This is the PERFECT theme for a first birthday party! It is gender neutral, the only difference being in the bow that we add to the girl pea in a pod, a bow that can be the color of your choosing!

Here is the tutu/shirt combo. Super duper cute!

All 3 shirts together, embroidered w/ their names in "Child's Play" font.

Each individual shirt. The girls' shirts are actually onesies. Notice the cute bow!

Texas A&M Football Bow

Pin It I have been experimenting w/ layered bows & decided that Texas A&M colors were going to be my 1st go at it. I gotta say I love the layered, loopy look, maybe not so much for my girls but it is a really pretty bow! I can do this in any color. Match your school colors or favorite college or pro football team. You get to choose whether you want the top bow to match the bottom or get football ribbon instead. This bow is $7.

For just a little less, you can get this bow without the loopy ribbon at $6.50.

I plan on making more bows in different colors. These would be great for cheerleaders!
