Nap Mat Covers...2 slots left!

Pin It I just wanted to let everyone know that I have 2 slots left if there are any takers. Remembering that these are practice runs for me & no charge for my time, just the materials & shipping. Comes out to roughly $20-25 depending on materials you choose. Technically, it could even be cheaper! Email me at divinedcakes@hotmail.com

Nap Mat Cover ~ My newest sewing project!

Pin It My friend Cal asked if I made nap mat covers. She isn't the 1st friend to ask if I could make them but before, I didn't have time to bust out the sewing machine before but now I do so I decided to strike Cal a deal. I told her if she bought the materials, I would make the cover so long as I could keep the scrap material.

There were a couple of requirements...

1) It had to have dogs on it.
2) The material could not be dark blue, blue or brown (this was going to be the hard part b/c if you have ever been in a fabric store, you know that most dog print stuff if very masculine).
3) It had to have somewhere to put a pillow.

Hmmm. Where to start? I searched the internet & found a tutorial but I'm not a reader when it comes to instructions. I'm totally visual. I called my only friend that would have purchased a nap mat & asked if I could borrow hers. Thank God! Now, her nap mat cover is super cute but the sewing sucked so I knew I could do better & I think I did.

Don't get me wrong. I had to rip a few seams to get it just right & sure, the stitching isn't perfect but I think I did a fairly good job for being a 1st timer. Now, looking back at the borrowed cover, I understand why she took the "shortcuts" in sewing b/c the way I did it wasn't easy but man, it looks A LOT cleaner.

Here is the finished product! I folded the "blanket" in half (it is quite big, twice as big as the actual cover so it will be about 40" wide). The bottom is closed by velcro so the mat won't slip out.

This is the top half w/ the attached pillowcase. I also made the pillow inside the pillowcase.

A close up of the print I found. It is flannel so it will be snuggly.

This is how it will look rolled up. I also made a handle for easy carrying.

I'm not even sure what I will charge for one of these. I need more practice so if you need a nap mat & are willing to pay for material & shipping, I'll make one for you! No extra charge. I'll make 4 so if this is something you are looking at doing, please contact me asap @ divinedcakes@hotmail.com. Thanks!

Zebra Princess Diaper Cake

I made this diaper cake for display at the craft shows I will be doing BUT am totally willing to sell it if someone asks to buy it on the spot. I have been DYING to make a cake in these colors WITH the zebra stripe ribbon & pink daisies. This would be a perfect piece for on top of the dresser or for a shower done in the same theme. I wish I had a place to actually keep it, that's how much I love it!

Ingredients:
50 Pampers Swaddlers (size 2)
1 pair Trumpette Ballerina socks
1 4" boutique bow (bubble gum pink)
1 3" boutique bow (black)
Plenty of ribbon to be used for scrapbooking after cake is disassembled!

This cake is $60.

Diaper Wreaths

I've been feverishly working on bows, diaper wreaths & several other little things for my very first craft show tomorrow. I had to share the 4 wreaths I completed as I like them very much. I know I've said this before but I am not one to make cheesy wreaths or cakes. I like elegance & simplicity. I think this really shows that. Some like the wreaths & cakes loaded w/ goodies but I rather keep it purdy!

I do include a couple of goodies that happen to match the color scheme, especially on the big wreaths.

11 to 16 Pampers Swaddlers (sz 2) are used. The small wreath is about $17. The larger $25. Customized letters can be added for the baby's initials.
