Halloween/Fall Upload 2012

We are currently in the midst of the Halloween/Fall Upload.
If you haven't gotten in on it, you must check out the album of goodies!
Just click HERE to go see what is available.

If you are unfamiliar with our uploads, it is pretty simple.
You find something you like and you claim it as yours.
Sometimes we suggest a certain style or only have enough fabric
to create certains styles but the decision is ultimately yours.

That means custom pieces.
We specialize in one of a kinds!

Here are a few shirts we have for upcycling and we have great knits to pair with them!

If an upcycle isn't quite your style, we have plenty of cotton fabric to choose from!
Many know, I have an affinity to skull fabric.
It's the alternative side of me rearing it's "skully" head, hehe.

And while I have your attention, let me say that the 3000 Fan Giveaway
is quickly approaching which means I need to get on my p's and q's.
When I will find the time?
When everyone is sleeping or so it seems.

I have so much to blog about but hopefully this will get you to the
Facebook Fan page to check out the goodies we have up for sale!
And I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Happy Friday Peeps!

I have a confession...

The last few weeks have been really hard.
Well, I'm sure you understand coming back from any vacation is hard.
Period.

Um, but there is more.
And it involves me working somewhere.
Somewhere other than here.

My home.
My workshop.
My S.P.A.C.E.

It means being supervised by someone other than myself.
It also means being paid.
Reliably paid.

Cuz you HAVE to know that as much as I love to sew and create...

it.doesn't.pay.bills.

shhhhh...don't tell my husband.

So, this means I have accepted a part-time job at the preschool my kids attend.
Yes, back to teaching.
And I really don't mind although for the past 2 weeks I have been having
major anxiety attacks about how I am suppose to do it all.

I'm still trying to figure it out.
Because let's face it, life goes something like this...

#1 - KIDS...period, end of discussion.
#2 - Family...this includes the hubs and our immediate family.
#3 - Keeping the house from looking like a dump.
#4 - The business...that would be {SIG}.
#5 - Teaching
#6 - Extracurricular activities for the kids
#7 - Extracurricular activities for the hubs & I

Gonna be honest, it is all jumbled up in my head.
I'm drowning.
And that is why you haven't heard from me.

Oh, and not to mention we are trying to eat "cleaner" as a family.
That means less processed, more green/organic, etc.
Another thing to put on the list.

So here I am...overwhelmed.
I know it will get better but if you don't see a post for a few days,
please understand I haven't forgotten.
Trust me, the ideas of posts float in my head while I sleep.

And now I will eat dinner...dinner my hubs has already started on.

Whew...and don't forget to check out the Halloween upload tonight!

Ruffle Fabric Maxi Dress

I stumbled across this.
It wasn't really planned.
It was a brainstorm moment between a mommy and me.

And it turned out beautifully.
As a matter of fact, it is very simple to make.
That is, if you have a serger.

Not sure I would have the patience to fight the ruffling
needed if I was just using my sewing machine.
Or attaching the ruffle fabric to the elastic.

{SIG} has created a ruffle fabric maxi dress.
And I can make it in just about any solid color!

You can wear the maxi dress 2 ways.
Melina is wearing the maxi dress without a waist ribbon tie.
Flows beautifully!
{isn't she delish???}

Or you can add a simple ribbon tie.
We like to use grosgrain ribbon.
Sofi modeled this dress beautifully despite that it was WAY TOO LONG.

I also think this would be a great photographer prop.
Could you imagine doing a mini session or a group session
using several different color dresses?
I sure could!

Hmmmm...maybe I should!
Although my photog skills aren't necessarily up to professional standards.

Either way, these are a great addition to any little girl's wardrobe.
Don't you think?
Now the question remains, should I put them in the Etsy store as a staple?

Let me know!

The Cabin

Ever since I can remember, we have gone to Colorado for summer fun.
When I was about 11 or 12, the first cabin started going up.
The logs came from the mountain.
Put together by all of us.

One log at a time.

And the "Aloha Cabin" was born.

But that became too small for everyone.
And it is really was my sister-in-law's father's cabin.
Now it isn't.
He has a new cabin.

Of course my daddy had to get in on the action.

We all pitched in.
As a matter of fact, I am a master chinker.

And you are probably asking what the heck is chinking?
In log cabin terminology, it is the stuff you put between the logs.
We used nails as rebar and cement to seal the deal.
There is still plenty of chinking to do on the outside but the inside is beautiful!

I did much of the chinking and loved it!
Looking at it now, I'm amazed at the architecture of this cabin.

I'm so happy that this place will be in our family for years to come.
I see many, many summers being spent up in the mountains.
Enjoying the cool air.
The beautiful landscape.
The amazing amount of stars at night.
The cooling rain.

But mostly, I look forward to the memories.

I hope everyone had a beautiful weekend!

Back from Vacation

It is official.
We survived our first family vacation.
So you understand, the thought of taking our triplets on a
16 hour road trip was less than appealing until this summer.

Why 16 hours?
Because that is how far my parents are away.

In Colorado.
Up in the mountains.
Way, way up.

This is the year we decided to tackle the challenge.
And the kids did beautifully.
Except for the occasional temper tantrum
but that could have happened here at home as well.

I'll be sharing some pics over the next few days.
These are some of my favorite moments.

Daddy and son...together.

My boy trying to be patient and learn how to play Old Maid.

This dog, Happy, was my son's best friend.

Miss Sofi discovering the water.
Actually they call it a "crick".

Ah, horseback riding!
One of my loves.
And my kids were finally introduced.
Gabi was by far our best and most natural rider.

Sofi caught a ride bareback.
{as did Gabi in the photo above this one}

My girls loved riding together!

The photo above truly captures my girls' spirits!

We spent 5 glorious days up in the mountains.
The weather was much cooler than here.
The sleeping was amazing.
The activities throughout the day were fun.

Best of all, no electricity.
No electronic games.
No tv.
No cell phone service.
No iPad.

Nuthin' but sweet nature!
More photos to come over the weekend.

Happy Friday Peeps!
