Blog Hiatus

Besides writer's block, it is the busiest time of the year.
Andrea and I have been super busy, more than normal!
Doesn't help we have done a show every other weekend.

And there are some great things in the works.
Like Zulily.
Yes, you read right.

ZULILY

Hopefully it will all work out.
But until I tell you all the details,
I am going to leave you with some pretties we have made.

My sweet Gabi...I love this photo!

Chevrons are hot, hot, hot right now!

This is a OOAK (one-of-a-kind) skirt made for Imani.

The above skirt went out to {52 Dresses} with Simply b Photos.

It has been a great holiday season and hopefully after things
slow down in the {SIG} workshop, I will be able to blog
more and have some cute tutorials up for ya!

Thanks for being patient and don't worry, we are still around!
Hope you all had a great Turkey Day!

Handprint Turkey Trivet Tutorial

I'm not sure that I have actually put this out here on the blog,
but I also teach twice a week at my triplet's preschool.
It's fun and at times is inspiring.

I get to teach pre-k 3 and pre-k 4 twice a week.
One day is art, the other day is Spanish.
{i am originally from Argentina}

This past week for art, I made these super cute trivets with the students.
I thought it was cute enough to to share with you all.
Not only cute BUT it is super easy.

Seriously will only take you a few minutes to do most of the work.
The rest of the time is spent drying.
Let's get to it!

Supplies:
~ 5" x 5" Tile from anywhere you can find one (Home Depot, Lowe's)
~ Acrylic paint in the following colors...brown, red, orange, yellow, green
~ Paint brushes for each color
~ Sharpies (either fine point or regular) in red, brown, and black
~ Felt circles with adhesive on the bottom
~ Polyurethane or shellac spray

Before you get the paint ready, make sure to write the name and year.
OR, if your child is old enough, they can write it themselves.
I used cute dot letters since these are preschoolers.
I also go ahead and put the felt circles on each of the
four corners on the back side of the trivet.

Pour your paint out on to the surface of your choice.
Since I was dealing with 5 classes and 45 students,
I gave each color its own for obvious reasons.

I had each student come up to me and I painted
their palm and thumb brown and each finger a different color.
I guided their hand to the tile and pressed slowly in to it.

Came out super cute!

After the acrylic dries, it is time to add the "features".
I added an eye (in black Sharpie),
a beak and wattle (in red Sharpie), and
2 feet (in brown Sharpie).

Please forgive the absence of a photo but then next thing
you do is seal your tile by spraying it with polyurethane or shellac spray.

And you are finished!
You have the cutest turkey trivets around.
Don't just make one.
Make some for the grandparents.
You know they will use them for EVERY.SINGLE.THANKSGIVING.

And there you have it...the cutest Handprint Turkey Trivets around!

Winner of the OOAK Christmas Skirt

Before I even get to the name,
I want to take two seconds of your time...
please, please, please go out and vote.

There are so many political races out there that are so close.
This does include the Presidential race but even more importantly
your local races for Representatives in your state.

Every vote counts!

Now for the good stuff.
First, let me tease you with a few of the skirts I have been able to make.

I really love them all!!!
I'll tell you...OOAKs are fun to make.
Honestly, I don't know how any OOAK piece will turn out
until I am completely finished which I love.

I just let the fabric talk to me.
And I don't follow any type of "pattern".
I just use a basic length and waist for the skirt.

The rest happens as I am cutting.
Just like the name suggests...these are one-of-a-kind pieces.
No replicating exactly.

Some fabrics I have plenty of,
others are just scraps that I incorporate.
But I think that is the charm of the OOAKs, don't you?

Anywho, I'm sure you want to know the winner!

Jaime Warner ~ Via Comment on the Blog

Congrats to Jaime and please contact me
at signature dot creations at hotmail dot com
to let me know the size of the skirt you would like!

Thanks to all our new fans...and old just the same.
We have BIG things in the works so make sure to
follow the blog and read our wall on Facebook.

Happy Voting Day!!!

Save the Date Events

Man, I am having serious writer's block.
This is why I haven't been blogging.
Trust me, I have tried to sit down several times but I end up
just staring at the screen and coming up blank.

I should really keep a journal of ideas.
It seems like the logical thing to do.
But alas, logical doesn't cross my path much these days.

Beyond writer's block, {SIG} has been extremely busy!
We are getting ready for a couple of events in November.
Wish we could have tackled a bigger craft show but it just wasn't in the cards this year.

Instead, we will be out at Wine Styles on November 3rd
for a fun filled afternoon of wine tasting and shopping.
This will be our first time to attend this event and we
will be catering more to the adults with a great selection of
infinity scarves, Millie Totes, & {SIG} Totes.

But don't worry, we will also have some premade outfits
for both Turkey Day and Christmas so come on by!

The following weekend, we are hosting A Day with Amy Photography Workshop.
This is an all day event on November 11th from 9am to 5pm.
Lunch and snacks will be provided!
Trust me, it is worth the money to learn how to shoot your
camera out of "auto" mode!
Not only that, you get to hang out with Andrea and I for the day!!!

Finally, on November 18th, we will be hanging out at The Carriage House
with the fabulous Candace for photos with Santa!
Check out all the deets HERE.
The event starts at 1 and ends at 5.
There will be some great vendors there including the awesome Melbows Place!

There you have it.
The events of November.
Then maybe we can breathe a little.
Just a little.

Enjoy your Wednesday peeps!
I know I have lots of work to get wrapped up!

A Day with Amy Photography Workshop

Amy is coming to HOUSTON!
I couldn't be more excited!!!
Either could Andrea.

Because we are attending.
Actually, we are hosting the event.

I have a thing for photography.
I love it.
It is truly a "hobby" of mine.

But, I am an expert in using "auto" or "no flash".
The other settings?
Fuuuugetaboutit!

Let's face it.
I've tried to read books.
I've tried to read blogs.
I've tried to watch YouTube videos.
I've tried the settings out alone.

But it would not be too far fetched to say...EPIC FAIL.
Seriously, I need someone to teach me in real time.

I am sooooo looking forward to this workshop.
Amy is an amazing person.
She is kind and very easy to talk to.
And she can "break it down" really well!

{SIG} will be hosting the all day workshop.
November 11th from 9 to 5 PLUS lunch and snacks!
All you have to do is register and then show up.

It will be worth your while.
I mean, look at these amazing photos she took of our {52 Dresses} project?

AH-MA-ZING
I want to learn how to catch the light like that.
And ohhhh...the picture of her sweet gal in the water.

There is so much to learn.
I can't wait for this workshop.
I know I will become a better photographer because of it.

Want to join the fun?
Mark your calendars.
November 11th, 9-5.
Lunch and snacks provided.

Sign up for the workshop HERE.
Scroll down to almost the bottom of the page.
There is a drop down menu.
Click on November 11, Houston and it will take you through
the registration process.

This would make a great early Christmas present!
After all, a picture is worth a 1000 words or in our case, a 1000 memories.
Learning to capture those sweet memories is amazing!

We hope to see you there!

PS ~ Forgive the absence.
My "real" life has been super hectic.
Still learning to juggle the new part-time job and a growing business,
not to mention motherhood, friendships, and the marriage!

Fashion Forward Friday ~ Week 2

I'm really starting to enjoy Fashion Forward Friday.
{read more about FFF HERE}
I had this particular fabric set aside for just this idea.

Isn't it awesome?
Want the fabric for yourself?
It is from Riley Blake's Chevron collection and you can purchase it HERE
as our favorite Skye Reve Fabrics has sold out.

I paired it with awesome navy blue polka dots.
Again, from Riley Blake.
I knew I wanted this to be a little more subtle so that is why I chose
the navy blue rather than the red or orange to accent with.

Here is what one lucky little girl will be wearing.

And let me show you a close up of the pretty bow.
You know we love us some Melbows Place!

Here is the rundown on what I did with the basic peasant dress.
~ Cut the sleeves at the 1/2 way point and added a ruffle.
~ Added ruching right above the sleeve.
~ Added ruffling at the bottom of the dress.
~ Added a "squiggle" ruching on the bottom of the dress.

Andrea and I love being challenged and we often talk
about what our next design is going to be.
Andrea is up next and I think you all are going to LOVE what she makes.

And...in other blogging news,
I hope to have a few tutorials up sometime this month.
I just wish I had more time!

Anyone know where I can find 48 hours in a day?
It would be much appreciated!

Happy Monday Peeps!

Project Charlie Single Auction Piece ~ Ruffle Halloween Circle Skirt

I've decided that Fridays we will put up a piece auction style
to help raise money for Project Charlie.
Anything above retail will go directly to purchase gift cards
for the employees of BARC Animal Shelter.

This week, we are putting up TWO awesome Halloween circle skirts!

The first is the ruffle circle skirt.
It is the first time to combine knit fabric with ruffle fabric.
Andrea and I absolutely ADORE IT!

The second is one I know my Gabi would LOVE.
I think it is the sweetest!

This skirt will fit either as a LONG 3/4, a regular 5/6
or a regular 7/8 thus the reason there is no waist band.
Once the auction is closed, the high bidder will let me know what size.

If you are curious how these circle skirts fit on a child, check out my girls.

HOOK 'EM HORNS!
And they say they are very comfortable so I expect we will get
lots and lots of wear out of our skirts this year.

Now, go on and bid!
Help a good cause.

Happy Friday Peeps!

3 Kids and a Wedding Dress

I'm not sure where I got the idea.
Maybe I saw it somewhere?
Pinterest?

Who knows.
What I do know is it had to be done.
I had to get my wedding dress out and get photos of the kids with it.

You know, the ultimate dress up session.
Mommy's wedding dress + triplets + Candace + sunset = PERFECTION.

Isn't this the most gorgeous shot?
I am completely in love with these 3 children.

Gabi is our China doll...such a perfect little face!

Sofi is so vogue...couture for sure.
She LOVES to model.

This little boy is the sweetest...he has stolen my heart!

Ya know I had to get in the shot somehow.
Why not with Daddy's tie around my head!

We had so much fun.
This was by far the best photo shoot we have ever had.
The kids were completely in to it.

Here is the lowdown on the goodies for the shoot...
~ Eye Candy by Candace "Orange Crush" Mini Session ~
{Orange Crush is the beautiful couch}
~ Girl's bloomer design by Sheelin's Closet, sewn by me ~
~ Boy's white shorts by SIGnature Creations ~
~ Chunky Pearl Necklaces and Headpiece by Stinkin Cute Dollhouse ~
~ Wedding dress, 7 years old ~
~ Daddy's sports coat and tie ~
~ White tank tops from Target ~
~ No shoes or fancy hairdos ~
~ The perfect sunset ~

And that's it folks.
I had to share with you all the wonderful talents that came together
to make this one very special photo shoot.
These photos were used to make a collage that I gave to my hubs
for our SEVENTH wedding anniversary.
He loves it and so do I.

Now, are you going to schedule a photo session
with your kids and your wedding dress?
Hopefully it inspires you!

Hope your Thursday is fabulous!

The First Fashion Forward Friday Creation

It is finally finished.
Fashion Forward Friday has given me a new spark!
Don't get me wrong, it is a challenge to design something new.
Always easier to go back to something you have always done.

But that was the point of starting FFF.
To challenge both Andrea and I to try new ideas.
Trust me, we talk about enough of them.
It was about time we sewed those ideas out!

The best part is that it is a design surprise to the customer.
And it is sold at a discount since it is out first one.
Win-win situation in my opinion.

Gail was the first to snag the FFF deal.
She had no idea what fabric I had in mind.
But I knew I had to create something fun when I received this fabric.

Ah...Riley Blake, I {heart} you for bringing the rainbow love back.
I {heart} you for the awesome chevron and polka dots.
I {heart} being able to work with it.

I am thankful that Gail put her trust in me.
Allowed my creative juices to flow.
Seriously, was IN LOVE with the ideas to put to fruition.

Alas, the fun one won out.

{my girl is getting to be quite the model...i swear it is all her}

Big, market size pocket on a Susi skirt.
Add some fun, pleated trim for detailing.
use that same trim on the sleeves of a shirt.
Repeat pocket on shirt.
{fully functional pocket at that}

And go ahead with the accessories.
Because THIS is a piece that NEEDS a chunky necklace
from the fabulous Stinkin Cute Dollhouse AND
a super full small korker from Melbows Place.

I am so super happy that we have the opportunity to challenge ourselves.
Even more happy that we have the loyal customers that believe in us.
Wednesday, I get to work on another FFF outfit.

Don't worry, I'll take more photos.
Hopefully it will be a size I can get my kids to model.
If not, I'll still be able to show you the beauty of the creation.

Good night peeps.
{it has been a long 3 days for us...a story to be told tomorrow}
